Introduction
Japlog is a system to provide news and pictures to a wide audience on the Web. It contains a user and group management and every news or picture can be assigned a permission. This is nice if you run a diary with some items open for the general public and some items only for a few selected people.
I used the system for writing back home during my 6-month trip to Japan in 2003/2004. The Web site is available online at http://japan.patrice.ch and shows what the default setup looks like. The news items over there are in German, but that should not hinder you.
I'm not sure if I will release any further updates of this software. It depends on whether I really can not find any decent weblog system with user permissions. If and only if I can't find such a system, I'll probably continue working on japlog.

Installation
The installation is pretty complicated compared to similar application. This is, because this application was not developed for public release. A nice installation system could probably easily be added if the need for this arises one day. Until that day read the INSTALL file after extracting the downloaded file.
Also make sure to read the README file before doing anything else.
