What is this?
This is a Mac OS X client for the Internet Dictionary Project. It currently is a very early alpha release and only includes the Spanish dictionary. I only invested a few hours so far (this being my first non-demo Cocoa application). Also it will probably only run on OS X 10.4.
The quality for the English to Spanish dictionary is not very good. Also the original is provided in ASCII only (no support for accented characters). So I converted it to Latin1 and some errors may have crept in during that process.
Please provide feedback in case you use the program.
Future plans
I do have a few plans for this application. First, I definitely want a better dictionary. If you know of any dictionaries that I can include, please tell me. Also I plan to add more languages. For starting I'll try to include all of the other IDP dictionaries and I also want to include a Japanese dictionary. I guess EDICT or JMDict should be excellent candidates for that.
And of course, I should get a real name for this application. But I'm not very good at that and am always open to suggestions.
